Great movies start with great screenplays.  Come join skilled instructors Jennie Jarvis and John Boles for a 1 day intensive workshop as they will guide you through all the nuts and bolts of Screenwriting for Beginners.

Jennie Jarvis worked in the film and television industry in Los Angeles, San Francisco, London and New York City before returning to Jacksonville where she currently teaches screenwriting at the University of North Florida and The Art Institute of Jacksonville. While working in Beverly Hills, she served as a script analysis for a major production company working in conjunction with Sony Pictures, producing coverage on over 30 scripts a week for producers, investors, actors, and writers. She has operated as a freelance script consultant (“script doctor”) for over ten years working with clients around the world. She taught a series of success screenwriting and script analysis workshops through the independent production company Astorax Productions, where she served as Director of Development. Jennie’s other film experience includes directing, writing, producing, casting, script supervision, and acting. Major film and television credits include Matrix: Reloaded, Matrix: Revisited, Déjà Vu, Material Girls, The Riches, Accepted, Bobby, Enough, Nash Bridges, and SeaQuest 2032. She is a graduate of the highly acclaimed Film School at the Florida State University, holds a master’s degree in English, specializing in Film Studies, from the University of North Florida and is currently in the process of completing her second master’s in Writing for the Stage and Screen from the prestigious MFA Program at the Queens University of Charlotte.

John Boles is a writer, producer, director, editor, and actor with thirty years’ experience and more than a dozen industry awards for his creative accomplishments. He’s worked with such companies as Columbia Pictures, Spelling/Goldberg, Rona II, ABC, and NBC. For the past fifteen years, he has shared his expertise by teaching screenwriting, film, and creative writing courses at several institutions, including JU and UNF. He leads a private screenwriting workshop that has nurtured a number of writers, and he currently works as a freelance writing coach, editor, script doctor, and reader. Writers from around the country hire him to read their screenplays and novels and write in-depth coverage reports critiquing their work and assessing its potential for production. A popular workshop presenter and keynote speaker at writer’s conferences and film festivals, the 2010 UNF Writer’s Conference scheduled John to lead a day-and-half Screenwriting Critique Workshop. He is a longtime member the Screen Actors Guild, and has a BA degree from the University of South Florida where he majored in Film and minored in Creative Writing.
